On Valentines Day, The new “Mob Museum” opened in Las Vegas. Frank Cullotta and few other mobsters were there for the opening. I saw Andrew DiDonato(see photo with Frank), Henry Hill and a few others lurking around.

The official title of the museum is “National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement.” Everyone just calls it The Mob Museum… And that’s it website address.

Frank has a role in the museum. In video clips and statements inside various exhibits and interactive kiosks, Frank Cullotta talks about being in the Mob. Giving you a pretty grim first person view of being part of the Mafia. Warts and all and always in the Frank Cullotta style… as it is and how it happened. Nothing is ever sugar coated with Frank!

The museum itself, steps you thru the birth, growth and demise of the Mob in America. Nothing is glamorized. It also shows how Law enforcement helped bring the Mob down. Nothing is glamorized (the critics keep hounding the opposite) and they even tell a few gritty tales of when Law Enforcement was on the Mobs side. So, like I said, it shows everything, warts and all.

Of course, the whole thing ends in a gift shop, where you can buy Frank’s book, amongst other mob/Law enforcement memorabilia and trinkets.

Love the Mob? Love Law Enforcement? Love Vegas? Go see The Mob Museum!

That’s right, former Mobster Frank Cullotta is returning to Las Vegas for one night.

Tuesday, January 18th is when you can come out and meet Frank Cullotta and some other mobsters at the Las Vegas Public Library

Frank will be part of a panel of heavyweights from organized crime families in New York, New Jersey and Chicago who ended up in Las Vegas, what it was like turning on the Mob and working for the government, plus Hollywood memories from the Martin Scorsese movies Casino and Goodfellas.

Frank Cullotta of the Chicago Mob participated in the original Hole In The Wall Gang that pulled off the most notorious heist in Las Vegas and was mob technical advisor on the movie Casino;

Andrew DiDonato worked for the Genovese & Gambino crime families in New York who later became a government informant and produced a documentary movie about his criminal life ; Dennis Griffin penned Cullotta, a biographical expose about Frank Cullotta’s life of crime;

East Coast ex-mobster Henry Hill got the Hollywood treatment when his life story of working for the Lucchese crime family was portrayed by actor Ray Liotta in Goodfellas; and actor Craig Vincent played the cowboy who wouldn’t take his boots off the table in Casino and was also a technical advisor/stuntman for the movie.

Also, The Mob Museum is scheduled to open in 2011 and a presentation of mob related items will be donated to curator Kathleen Hickey Barrie on behalf of the Museum in an onstage ceremony.

Books and merchandise by DiDonato, Griffin & Hill will be available for purchase and signing after the presentation.

If you keep up with the news, you may have seen his mug on the pages of a few of the city’s rag magazines this week. After all, Frank Cullotta is in town to do a talk/show at the Winchester Community Center tomorrow.

Actually, its the same interview published in several papers owned by The Las Vegas Sun. Where he talks about his restaurant, the Upper crust and the fact that his place was the first one in Las Vegas to offer Chicago-Style Stuffed Crust Pizza. That Senator harry reid was NEVER on the mob’s payroll or that he was a marked man and they did a failed hit on his family.

Harry is running for his livelihood in the Senate race and pulling or grasping at all available straws, targets and scapegoats to save his cushy job in Washington. At one point, running a series of ads claiming he is such a wonderful “man of the people” that at one time, the mob wanted him dead. I know, nice try and a funny headline. But it got him some free media attention.

The surprise comes in a blog posting on The Las Vegas Sun, where the fateful question was finally answered. What does an ex-mobster do for a living? And where does he do it?? want to know what Does an ex-mobster do for a living??

To meet Frank Cullotta:
Saturday, May 8
2 p.m
Winchester Cultural Center
3130 S. McLeod Drive.
Cost is $15

Special Guest is Dennis Griffin
Co-Author of
“Cullotta: The Life of a Chicago Criminal, Las Vegas Mobster and Government Witness.”
